The best artifact set for Mualani is the 4-piece Obsidian Codex. This set is excellent because it increases her damage and CRIT Rate, making it a perfect choice for her.
If you don’t have the Obsidian Codex set, you can use the 4-piece Heart of Depth set. This will boost Hydro damage and increase both Normal and Charged Attack damage when using Elemental Skills.
Another option is the 2-piece Vourukasha’s Glow and 2-piece Nymph’s Dream set. This combination provides a 20% HP bonus and a 15% Hydro damage bonus.
Mualani Weapons Desc
Mualani’s signature weapon is the 5-star Surf’s Up, released in version 5. It provides a bit of Base ATK and 41.3% HP, which is excellent for recovery purposes. This weapon increases HP and, when using Elemental Skills, grants 4 Scorching Summer stacks. These stacks help boost Normal Attack damage, making it the best weapon for her overall.
Other weapon options for Mualani include the 5-star Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds and the 4-star Ring of Yaxche. The 4-star Ash-Graven Drinking Horn is another choice. Among the 4-star options, the Ring of Yaxche is especially good because it grants the Jade-Forged Crown effect, increasing Max HP and boosting Normal Attack damage.

Mualani Overview
In Genshin Impact, Mualani is a Hydro character who uses a Catalyst weapon. She was introduced in version 5.0. Mualani is unique because she rides on the back of a shark.
Her Elemental Skill, Surfshark Wavebreaker, allows her to perform a Shark Bite attack while riding the shark, dealing a lot of damage to nearby enemies. Additionally, while riding the shark, she can tag enemies. Each time she tags an enemy, she gains a stack, up to a maximum of 3 stacks. With 3 stacks, she can deal even more damage and also inflicts Hydro damage.
Mualani’s Elemental Burst, Stormburst Shot, lets her fire a Super Shark Missile at enemies after gaining energy. This missile deals AoE Hydro damage aligned with Nightsoul, based on Mualani’s maximum HP.
While Mualani is quite slow, which can be a downside, her strength lies in her ability to deal heavy damage despite her slower speed.

Combining her mastery of speed and water, Mualani can surf anywhere at any time. After activating this skill, she gains 60 Nightsoul points and enters the Nightsoul’s Blessing state.
Nightsoul’s Blessing: Mualani
Continuously consumes Nightsoul points. The blessing ends when the points are depleted or the skill is used again.
- Mounts her Sharky Surfboard, boosting Movement Speed and resistance to interruption.
- Transforms Normal Attacks into Sharky’s Bites, dealing Hydro DMG aligned with Nightsoul based on her Max HP.
- Applies “Marked as Prey” to opponents on contact and gains 1 Wave Momentum stack.
Waved Momentum and Marked as Prey
Increases damage based on Wave Momentum stacks when using Sharky’s Bite. With 3 stacks, Sharky’s Bite becomes Sharky’s Surging Bite, further boosting damage and removing all stacks upon hitting an opponent.

When a nearby party member activates a Nightsoul Burst, she gains 1 stack of Wavechaser’s Exploits, which lasts for 20 seconds. She can have a maximum of 3 stacks. When using Stormburst Shot, all Wavechaser’s Exploits stacks are cleared, and the damage of Stormburst Shot increases by 15%/30%/45% of her Max HP, depending on the number of stacks cleared.

Once her Nightsoul points are depleted, Mualani will start using Phlogiston to keep her Nightsoul’s Blessing active.
In Natlan, while in an area with Phlogiston Mechanics, she can use Nightsoul Transmission: Mualani. When the active character is sprinting, swimming, in a movement mode from certain Talents, or at a certain height in the air, triggering this ability will:
- Activate Nightsoul’s Blessing.
- Grant 40 Nightsoul points.
Nightsoul Transmission can be activated every 10 seconds by your team.
Additionally, while in Natlan, her consumption of Nightsoul points or Phlogiston while moving on water, and Liquid Phlogiston during Nightsoul’s Blessing, is reduced by 75%. Outside Natlan, Nightsoul point consumption is reduced by 35%.

In Natlan, while in an area with Phlogiston Mechanics, interacting with certain harvestable items will restore 15 Phlogiston. Additionally, the mini-map will show the locations of nearby unique Natlan resources.

The damage dealt by the first Sharky’s Surging Bite and the Shark Missiles it triggers after entering Nightsoul’s Blessing is increased by 66% of her Max HP. This extra damage follows the diminishing returns rules of Surfshark Wavebreaker.
Additionally, while out of combat, the consumption of Phlogiston and Nightsoul points for Nightsoul’s Blessing is reduced by 30%.

Upon entering Nightsoul’s Blessing, she gains 2 Wave Momentum stacks from Surfshark Wavebreaker. Additionally, she gains 1 stack each time she collects a Puffer.
Furthermore, if she collects 2 Puffers during a single instance of Nightsoul’s Blessing, she will recover an extra 12 Nightsoul points over 2 seconds. This effect requires the Passive Talent “Heat-Resistant Freshwater Puffer” to be unlocked.
